Take or upload a photo and answer three quick taps. In about ten seconds you'll see which materials are worth testing, how many samples you'd need, and anything you should never touch.
Only a lab test can tell you for sure. Your photo helps us send the right kit.

This is advice about what to test, not an asbestos survey. Nobody can tell whether something contains asbestos from a photo. Only the lab can tell you for sure.

A photo can't tell you if something is asbestos, and we'll never pretend it can. Only a lab test can.
Every sample will be analysed by a UKAS-accredited laboratory, named on every certificate.
Pipe lagging, sprayed coatings, loose fill or anything damaged: don't touch, ask us. Insulation board: photo first, don't sample it.
Your photo is only used to help you. Google's Gemini AI looks at it for us, and we don't keep it unless you send it to us. Then it's deleted after 90 days. Never sold. Privacy notice
Here's how it will work when kits launch. The AI surveyor photo check is open now.

The AI surveyor points at what's worth testing, works out how many samples you need, and flags anything you should never touch. It never says “this is asbestos”. It says: “This kind of material often contained asbestos in homes of this age: test it.”
If a photo isn't clear enough, it asks for another rather than guess.

Your kit comes with everything: a proper mask, gloves, sample bags, a spray bottle and a return envelope. Take a small sample, seal it, and post it back to the lab.
Before you seal it, scan the bag's QR code and take a photo. PhotoProof pins your photo to that bag's number, so you, the lab and anyone you show can see exactly which material each result is for. Then follow every sample on its own live tracker.
A photo proves which material and which bag. Only the lab can say what's in it.

The laboratory analyses your sample under the microscope. Your result and certificate come to you by email: something you can show a builder, a buyer or a landlord.
With it comes a plain-English page for every sample: what the lab found, what it means and what to do next, and a real person to talk it through. Anyone you show can scan the certificate's QR code to check it's genuine.
Chrysotile, a type of asbestos, was found in this ceiling coating.

Because a web form nobody answers is no help when you're worried.

Asbestos fibres are far thinner than a human hair. No photo, app or trained eye can confirm them. Only a microscope in an accredited laboratory can.
In UK homes built or refurbished before 2000, these are the most common places to find it. Tap the one that looks like yours.

The laboratory will be named on every certificate, so you always know exactly who tested your sample.

No. Only a lab test can tell you for sure. Your photo helps us work out which kit you need and how many samples, so you don't buy the wrong thing.
It depends on the material. Artex, floor tiles and cement sheets in good condition: you can take a small sample yourself with the right kit and our step-by-step guide, from the ground, never by climbing onto a roof. Insulation board is different. Don't sample it yourself. Send us a photo first and we'll advise. Pipe lagging, sprayed coatings, loose fill, or anything damaged or crumbling: never. Leave it alone and send us a photo.

The AI photo check sends it to Google's Gemini AI, which looks at it for us. We don't keep it unless you send it to us with your details. Then we use it only to reply to you, never sell it, and delete it after 90 days.
